Ross Elliott, CEO and President, CPHC, LEED-AP, RASDT, RHSD, CEA, CEE 

Inspiring owners, builders and designers to create the most energy efficient homes possible, Ross' expertise in sustainable housing spans over thirty years. Trained as an energy auditor in 1979, he knows green building from the ground up, having spent a decade on the jobsite as a Licensed Journeyman Carpenter, and another ten years running his own construction business. He established Homesol in 1999, providing energy evaluation, consulting & design services to clients throughout North America. Ross is a Certified Passive House Consultant, a LEED-Accredited Professional, and is a Faculty Member of the Canada Green Building Council. He is a Certified Energy Evaluator for ENERGY STAR, R-2000 and ecoENERGY, and a qualified Air Systems & Radiant Hydronic Design Technician. He is also a Founding Member and V.P. of Passive Buildings Canada and the Canadian Residential Energy Services Network (CRESNET), and is a past Director of EnerQuality Corporation.  

Ross is a Passive House Trainer, for both the North American and European approaches. He has provided research and training for several major organizations including Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Natural Resources Canada and Ontario First Nations Technical Services, and he has presented at numerous events including the US Passive House Conference, Affordable Comfort and GreenBuild. He is completing his Masters in Ecological Design, and is involved in several leading-edge LEED and Passive House projects including the construction of his own rural sustainable living demonstration and training centre at his home in McDonalds Corners, where he has built a unique soap-bubble-insulated greenhouse.

 

Kathryn Elliott, Vice President, CEA, CEE

Kat has been an NRCan-Certified Energy Advisor for existing housing programs since the company was founded in 1999, and has been a Certified Energy Evaluator for ENERGY STAR for Homes since the start of the program in 1995, providing thousands of energy analysis, site inspections and air leakage testing services for builders throughout Eastern Ontario. She has a degree in International Development and a diploma in Horticulture, and also operates a home-based greenhouse business where she grows organic produce for LivelyUp, her vegetarian cafe in McDonalds Corners.

 

Stephen Magneron, Advanced Buildings Specialist, CEA, CEE

Stephen is passionate about energy efficient, sustainable, and affordable construction and renovation. He graduated as valedictorian from Algonquin College’s 2 year Construction Carpentry – Advanced Housing program at its Heritage Institute in Perth, ON. After graduation, he worked for an award winning, green-minded construction and renovation company serving the Ottawa area before joining Homesol in December, 2010. He is one of our primary HOT2K and PHPP modelers with extensive experience in using SketchUp for volume and area take-offs. He is a Certified Energy Evaluator (CEE) for ENERGY STAR and Certified Energy Advisor (CEA) for ecoENERGY. He completed his Passive House Consultant Training in November and will be writing his exam in March. He is currently completing a major research project for the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation comparing SuperEE and eQuilibrium houses with Passive House.

 

Abbie Coates, Energy Design Specialist, CEA, CEE

Abbie has been working with Homesol since November, 2007, and has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics as well as a diploma in Heritage Carpentry. She has extensive experience with new and existing Homes programs. Abbie has been involved with thousands of ecoENERGY evaluations, either directly or in a QA role. She currently heads up our R-2000 and LEED for Homes division, and is also a Certified Advisor / Evaluator for our new and existing housing programs. She is currently working on her LEED-AP certification with Homes specialty.

 

Norma Ennis, Executive Assistant

Norma has been working with Homesol since 2007 and manages our office, coordinating all our customer service, client contacts, scheduling and project documentation. She has extensive experience administrating ENERGY STAR, R-2000 and LEED Canada for Homes projects, handles our accounting, and is the friendly voice you’ll often hear on the phone when you call our office.

 

Bridget O'Flaherty, Quality Assurance Manager, CEA

Bridget has an extensive background as a Realtor and been working with Homesol since December 2010. She is a Certified Energy Evaluator (CEE) for ENERGY STAR for New Homes, and a Certified Energy Advisor (CEA) for the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program. Among other roles with Homesol, Bridget is the ecoENERGY Administrator. She has completed LEED training and soon will be heading up our LEED commercial project documentation section.
